Lottery Winners Try to Claim Money, But the State Refuses to Pay

Many people dream of the day they win the lottery. They plan what they’d spend their money on, and how that money would change their lives. But people never imagine the state refusing to pay out their winnings.

That’s exactly what happened to lottery winners in Illinois. One attorney has even started representing the failed winners.

But why will the government not pay? Officials blame their budget crisis. If anyone won more than $600, the state refused to pay—yet they continued to promote the lottery in ads all over Illinois!

As one lottery winner, Susan Rick, said, “We won. We finally can have a comfortable life. Suddenly you’re gonna pull the rug out from under us. We had a ticket for $250,000.”

Hopefully these people get some kind of resolution soon!
